Addicted to Europe (Part 3 - The Hidden Amsterdam)

Amsterdam.. Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands. Amsterdam is more than just the famous red light district, DamRak, Leidseplein, or other famous museums..

To be honest Amsterdam has never been my favorite city of the Netherlands, because it's always over crowded with tourist, and for some reason people are always in a rush here...

But this time, I got the chance to visit the south part of Amsterdam, where there's still nature beauty and places that would not think that you can find in Amsterdam. This time I'm gonna write about the other part of Amsterdam, the part that could make me smile, and found my peace.

It's called Amstedamse Bos, or "Amsterdam Forrest" in english, it's basically 1,000 hectares forest in Amsterdam & Amstelveen. You can do lots of things here, a little picnic, swimming (I think, I didn't try that one), sailing, and I also saw some rowing competition while I was there. It was a nice escape if you're bored with the "city". You can also rent a bike and bike around when you are here.

They also have small farm here called "Boederij Meerzicht" where you can pet animals, and give them foods, they also have some kind of playground, and super huge pancake

Another pretty park in Amsterdam Zuid is Amstelpark, which has labyrinth, cafe, restaurant, and of course petting zoo. But the reason why I went here is to visit Puremarkt, where you can get all the nice biologist food or what they call here "Puur" (pure in english). The food was amazing, I get the chance to eat oyster for the first time, which taste pretty good. The weather was also nice that day so it was the perfect time for another food tasting.

So my conclusion for this trip is you don't have to stuck in Amsterdam City, like the dam square, where it's overcrowded by tourist. Well, I gained lots of weight, not to mention that my host is an amazing cook, he actually made spareribs from scratch, which taste pretty amazing (I didn't get the chance to make pictures).

Special thanks to my host who kindly show me the other side of Amsterdam. See you in the next adventure guys!!!

Super kind host

Dreams, Hope, & Reality - LPDP Scholarship (LGD and Interview)

The next step after the administration process is Leaderless Group Discussion and interview. The process usually take 2 days, depends on your luck, some people finish it in 1 day. A day before the said schedule on their timeline, you will receive an email with details about the venue and which group are you in. All participant need to be there at 8 AM, my location was at STAN Student Center, Bintaro. Luckily my aunt lives in Bintaro, so I stayed over at her place which is 10 minutes away from the venue. Without further due, I will tell you about the process December 2nd I couldn't sleep the night before, I guess I was nervous. I woke up around 5ish, because we had to be there on 7.30. I left around 6.15, because I didn't want to be late. When I got there, the place is already crowded with hundreds of participant, I found an empty seat next to someone, I didn't really remember his name, we had a short conversation. There are lots of great people there, some of them are yo...

Living in Europe - Survival Guide (Part 1)

In this post I'll share information about what to do, what to bring, and what to have when you decided to become an Au Pair, or maybe when you decided to move to Netherlands for Travel, doesn't matter how you come here, I'm here to help you enjoy the most of it:   What to bring: Credit Card(s): Why? Well, you will need credit card to book plane ticket, hotel, etc. Make sure you have enough money on your bank account to pay your credit card. I use internet banking facility to pay my credit card bill. But if you don't have credit card, it should be fine, you can ask the hostfamily or maybe your friends to help you book the ticket. But for me it means less freedom, and sometimes they are too busy, and you'll miss the opportunity to get the cheap-promo ticket. It's your call :) Minimum amount of clothes: Why? Clothes here are cheaper than in your home country (at least for me, since I come from Indonesia), and you can get nice clothes and maybe branded stuff ...
