Summer Trip (Part III - Pisa & Cinque Terre)

Yup and the journey continue.. After a long tiring day in Florence we had a good night sleep, I bought pasta from Supermarket and cook it at the hostel, so we finally have some proper dinner and get a good night sleep. Oh yeah you still remember the previous post when I told you the hotel has no air conditioner and it's hot summer, but well don't worry. At night it's not that warm, it's actually quite cold in the hostel.

Day 5 - Morning Train to Pisa
We take the morning train from Florence to Pisa, you don't have to book in advance for this one, the ticket cost 7.80 euro and the journey take 1 hour. Pisa the city of leaning tower, one of the famous symbol of Italy, but we're here not to see the leaning tower. Instead we want to go to Cinque Terre (The 5 lands), five seaside village with an extra ordinary view. Cinque Terre is located near La Spezia, to get there you have to take the train from Pisa to La Spezia (7euro one way). At La Spezia you can find the Cinque Terre tourist information and buy the combined train+hiking track ticket (10euro), and they will also give you the train schedule. After we got the ticket we hop on the train and get off on the first village Riomaggiore. From there we walk our way through the Via dell' Amore (Path of Love). Hoping to find some love there we walk our way through the path, enjoying the gorgeous view of Riomaggiore.

After walking for almost 40 minutes we finally reach village number 2 (Manarolla) I know, they said only 25 minutes walking, but we stopped a lot for pictures and we just want to take it slow and enjoy the view. From Manarolla you have to take the train to Corniglia, you can't really see anything  during the train trip, because you will pass some kind of tunnel, so it will be just an ordinary train trip. After we arrived in Corniglia we decided to walk to Vernazza (Village 4) which turns out to be a bad decision, because we have to hike about 4km, and it's hiking, not just regular walking, really uphill, and we're not prepared for that (I had slippers instead of hiking shoes). So, if you wanna enjoy all the 5 village it's better if you take the train, because it took us about 3 hours to get to Vernazza. But on the bright side, the view is pretty amazing during the hike, so it's kinda worth it to do it. Oh and it was very hot, so you can see some people gave up and take off their shirt and just walk with underwear or bikini.

After a long 3 hours of walking we take the train to the last village (duhh!!!!lesson learned, I'm not that stupid :p). Monterosso, the beach where you can lay down and just relax after that long walking trip, of course it's summer so the beach is really packed and full of people, but we're lucky we find a spot to sit down and relax a little bit before we go back to Pisa.

Finally Monterosso
Is that it? so you didn't see the leaning tower of Pisa???? Of course not, after we finished our cinque terre trip, we went to see the leaning tower of Pisa, it's a must take picture, just to prove that you've been to Italy. It's not really much to see in Pisa, except the leaning tower, and even the tower is not that big, it's not as great as I expected but well, you still have to at least take silly pictures there.  Oh yeah, the souvenir is also extra expensive there 2.5euro each :(
We stayed hostel pisa (paid 20.75/person). The hostel is okay, we got 4 person dorm, but only both of us that stayed in that room so it feel like private room with ensuite bathroom. The annoying part if you have to pay deposit 5 euro for every stuff you borrow from the hostel (including pan, plates, fork, and spoon).

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland, where every kids dream become reality (and mine too) and where you can meet your favorite Disney characters or the princess. Since I live in NL, I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to visit one of Disneyland Park in Paris. I found a very good deal from MilotReizen , for 67.50euro (I was 25 back then) you get a retour bus ride and entrance to one of Disney Park of your choice (Theme Park or The Studio), and of course I chose the Theme Park. The bus left on friday around midnight from Dordrecht (It has several stop like in Rotterdam and DenHaag). We took the last train to Dordrecht, and yeah of course as an AuPair with limited budget we prepared some food before we left, so we have full meal, from breakfast until dinner for the next day, so we won't be starving. It took about 6-7 hours bus ride, we arrived around 8ish in Paris, and we have to wait until the park is open, but meanwhile you can freshened up yourself in the toilet, because the bus will park close to...

Banyuwangi.. (and a little bit of Surabaya)

It's been a while since the last time I updated this blog. This time I want to share about my trip to Banyuwangi , East Java. The Regency of Banyuwangi is located at the easternmost end of the Indonesian island of Java. It serves as a port between Java and the island of Bali. Banyuwangi is separated by Strait of Bali from Bali. Why Banyuwangi? I know it's not one of the main tourist destination, but apparently it has a lot to offer, i t is surrounded by mountains and forests to the west; by sea to the east and south, and not to mention cheaper accommodation compared to Bali. You can go to Banyuwangi using airplanes, or just like me go to Surabaya first and then drive around 5-6 hours to Banyuwangi. I used tour operator Amazing Banyuwangi for this trip, but apparently they are very unprofessional, they tricked us so we ended up had to pay more for the "All Inclusive Private" trip they offered on the website. Anyway long story short let me tell you about how gorgeous...

Summer Trip (Part V - Rome)

After spending a wonderful 2 pampered days in Naples, we continue our journey to Rome. There's a saying "Many roads lead to Rome". Yeah, never occur in my mind that I finally step my feet in Rome, the land of love, capital city of Italy, one of the oldest city in Europe. We take an early train from Napoli, we booked the ticket early and pay 9 euro for it. Giovanni called a taxi for us, to bring us to the train station. We paid 10 euro for the cab fare. It took only an hour and 10 minutes to get to Rome. Day 7 - When in Rome We arrived in Rome at 07.50, the sun is still sleeping, the wind blows the coldness of morning. We dragged our suitcase to our one last stop before we continue to explore other country (or going back to, for Mariella). We stayed in  GardenRome hostel (18.50euro/night/person). I had a 5 bed female dorm, with ensuite bathroom. Gardenrome hostel is an apartment that transformed into hostel. There are 3 rooms in this hostel, 4 bed dorm and 5 bed dorm, t...
